Irvin St.
Nestled in the heart of Northern Virginia, the Irvin Street project in Vienna was a deeply personal endeavor. Designed as a modern French-style retreat, this home was crafted to serve as a forever sanctuary for a close-knit family. The primary aim was to create a space that nurtured togetherness, allowing the family to connect, entertain, and enjoy both shared and private moments.
The kitchen and family room, vast in scale, presented a unique challenge: how to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere in such a large space.
Through thoughtful zoning and the integration of dedicated areas for different activities, these rooms now offer warmth and intimacy while maintaining their connection to the overall design.
A subtle yet impactful feature is the hidden door in the entryway, disguised within the wall paneling to maintain a clean, cohesive look while concealing essential storage.
This attention to detail extends throughout the home, including the clever L-shaped layout that maximizes outdoor enjoyment—whether by the pool or on the expansive lawn, perfect for their volleyball-loving children.
The seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living was a key design element, with large windows and fully retractable doors that blend the interior spaces with the surrounding landscape.
The outdoor family room, complete with automatic screens, provides a protected yet open-air environment that extends the home’s livable space.
Irvin Street is more than just a residence; it’s a sanctuary where every detail, from the architectural form to the smallest design feature, enriches the family’s daily life, reflecting their values and creating an enduring sense of home.
