Dead Run
In McLean, VA, we transformed a Craftsman home into a functional sanctuary for a busy family of four, carefully designing spaces to support both professional productivity and personal relaxation.
Dead Run's redesign was driven by the need to create distinct, functional spaces within the home.
The project focused particularly on the wife’s requirements for a modern office space distinct from the home's overall Craftsman style. We designed an office that not only serves as a functional workspace but also includes a lounge area and is comfortable for both her and her husband to use. Custom built-ins were key to achieving an organized, efficient environment where she can feel in control and productive.
Another critical aspect of this project was the transformation of the owner’s bedroom.
Previously a shared family sleeping area, it was re-envisioned as a private retreat for the parents. We aimed to make this space feel like an escape—a place to unwind and recharge away from the busy family areas. Soft, soothing colors and luxurious, comfortable furnishings were chosen to create a sense of tranquility and personal comfort.
The living room, updated prior to the main project, was designed to serve dual purposes: as an inviting space for entertaining guests and as a quiet reading area for the family. Featuring four swivel chairs and versatile arrangements, it accommodates social gatherings and peaceful family evenings equally well, demonstrating the home’s overall functionality and adaptability.
