In Ashburn, VA, we transformed a traditional home into a modern, open-plan sanctuary designed as a forever home for a family of three. This transformation embraced a modern interior that balances a warm, family-oriented atmosphere with sleek, functional design.
At the heart of the Crested Quail transformation was the redesign of the main living areas to create a more open, airy environment.
By removing barriers and enhancing the flow between rooms, we crafted a space that reflects the family’s preference for togetherness and modern design. This openness is complemented by natural light streaming through a new La Cantina door, which connects the family room and sunroom, strengthening the indoor-outdoor connection that the family values.
One of the significant challenges was the support columns in the kitchen. By wrapping these structural elements in warm white oak, we not only integrated them into the new design but also added a touch of elegance that complements the kitchen’s overall aesthetic.
In the son’s bedroom, we addressed the family’s religious considerations by designing a custom full-size daybed that allows the son’s head to face a required direction while sleeping.
This daybed, complete with built-in shelving, ensures the room meets both functional needs and religious practices without compromising on style.
Throughout the home, from the choice of materials to the layout and the integration of outdoor views, every design decision was made to evoke a sense of peace and tranquility.
The family’s desire for a space that feels both open and intimate has been thoughtfully fulfilled, offering them a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
